Folded bedding does not stack. Push a duvet cover onto a shelf and it slumps, then the sheet set beside it slumps into the gap, and within a fortnight the linen shelf is a single undifferentiated mass you dig through rather than choose from.

A soft-sided fabric box solves it by giving each set a container. Non-woven fabric keeps its shape well enough to stack two or three high without crushing what is underneath, but stays light enough to lift down one-handed from a high shelf. Choose the zip lid if the box will sit in an open wardrobe or under a bed where dust is the enemy, or the flip lid if you open it weekly and a zip would just be a step in the way. Both fold flat when empty.
